Kaitlyn Allen, MA

President and CEO

Kaitlyn Allen founded Global Affairs Associates (GAA), a niche sustainability consultancy that helps clients bridge business and sustainability, in 2013. Kaitlyn has consulted on corporate social responsibility and sustainability issues, including strategy, risk, and transparency, for the oil and gas and construction industries. She also trains international oil and gas executives on sustainability, lean management, process improvement, and strategy.

Previously, Kaitlyn worked in the non-profit and government sectors on human rights, violence reduction, immigration legal advocacy, and health psychology. She received the U.S. Critical Language Scholarship award to study Turkish in Turkey in 2011, and also speaks fluent Spanish, French and Portuguese. Kaitlyn co-founded the Resilient Business Forum with Amanda Hsieh in partnership with the Center for Houston’s Future. She is a member of the Associate Roundtable at the Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University.

Kaitlyn earned an M.A. in Conflict Resolution (Government) with distinction at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and a B.A. in International Relations summa cum laude from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Kaitlyn is a native Houstonian and currently resides in Houston.

Amanda Hsieh, BBA

Chief Operations Officer

Amanda Hsieh helps business leaders and industries improve long-term value by guiding the integration of sustainability into their business. She specializes in providing business-aligned sustainability solutions and advice to clients. Amanda is responsible for implementing and overseeing all aspects of the company’s operations and brings 25 years of broad sustainability and business experience with a solution-oriented approach.

Prior to joining Global Affairs Associates, Amanda worked to improve social and environmental conditions in IKEA’s North and South American supply chains and reduce the environmental footprint of its products. She contributed to the redesign of IKEA’s global supplier sustainability scorecard and led the annual sustainability data collection for her region. Amanda started her career at IKEA on the purchasing side of the company, eventually overseeing the largest supplier group in the region and delivering lower prices, shorter lead times, better product quality, and healthier products.

She earned a B.B.A. in Finance from McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin.

Ivonne Cruz, Ph.D. , is the Puentes Consortium administrator at Rice University. She holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in sustainable human development and social public policy from the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña. Her primary interest focuses on the human dimensions of global environmental change, corporate social responsibility, human rights issues, and sustainability reporting. Ivonne has been an independent consultant for over 15 years and has served in a variety of roles and institutions including academia, international agencies, and public sector entities. She has worked for the Environmental Defense Fund, the United Nations Environmental Program, the United Nations Industrial Program, the Global Environmental Facility, NOAA, the Mexican and Cuban Environmental Protection agencies, and other local governments in Europe. She has lived in several countries and has published several papers and book chapters on social policy issues, sustainable development strategies and has participated in the elaboration of sustainability reports for private and public sectors.

Mary Morley has over eighteen years of experience in the Investor Relations (IR), marketing, and corporate communications space working at both large and small companies with most of her career being in the O&G industry. She has also worked in the manufacturing and healthcare space and consulted for real estate investors and nonprofits. Mary has an interest in impact investing, social, economic, environmental, and corporate governance.  She has worked in challenging environments where she quickly learned the sensitive nature of the work as well as the demands and the importance of working directly with all levels of stakeholders and internal and external teams. Mary understands diverse corporate cultures, varied audiences, and partnerships. In two of her most recent positions, she created new IR roles and helped develop departments in both established organizations as well as start-ups. She has managed all functions of Investor Relations including management of roadshows and investor events, competitive analysis, reporting, filings, communications, training, coaching, and development of presentations for the C-Suite, Board of Directors, and investor and corporate audiences.  Mary is an ambitious and highly motivated individual with energy, passion, and drive and is currently working on finishing her MBA with a Finance concentration at the University of St. Thomas, Cameron School of Business. She earned her BBA, Magna Cum Laude, in Marketing with a Finance minor also at St. Thomas. Mary is also bilingual (English/Spanish).
