President and CEO
Kaitlyn Allen founded Global Affairs Associates (GAA), a niche sustainability consultancy that helps clients bridge business and sustainability, in 2013. Kaitlyn has consulted on corporate social responsibility and sustainability issues, including strategy, risk, and transparency, for the oil and gas and construction industries. She also trains international oil and gas executives on sustainability, lean management, process improvement, and strategy.
Previously, Kaitlyn worked in the non-profit and government sectors on human rights, violence reduction, immigration legal advocacy, and health psychology. She received the U.S. Critical Language Scholarship award to study Turkish in Turkey in 2011, and also speaks fluent Spanish, French and Portuguese. Kaitlyn co-founded the Resilient Business Forum with Amanda Hsieh in partnership with the Center for Houston’s Future. She is a member of the Associate Roundtable at the Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University.
Kaitlyn earned an M.A. in Conflict Resolution (Government) with distinction at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and a B.A. in International Relations summa cum laude from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Kaitlyn is a native Houstonian and currently resides in Houston.
Chief Operations Officer
Amanda Hsieh helps business leaders and industries improve long-term value by guiding the integration of sustainability into their business. She specializes in providing business-aligned sustainability solutions and advice to clients. Amanda is responsible for implementing and overseeing all aspects of the company’s operations and brings 25 years of broad sustainability and business experience with a solution-oriented approach.
Prior to joining Global Affairs Associates, Amanda worked to improve social and environmental conditions in IKEA’s North and South American supply chains and reduce the environmental footprint of its products. She contributed to the redesign of IKEA’s global supplier sustainability scorecard and led the annual sustainability data collection for her region. Amanda started her career at IKEA on the purchasing side of the company, eventually overseeing the largest supplier group in the region and delivering lower prices, shorter lead times, better product quality, and healthier products.
She earned a B.B.A. in Finance from McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin.
